Welcome to the hearth — a place where stories are tended, embers spark into new ideas, and traditions are examined not just for what they preserve, but for what they conceal.

I am a folklorist, a feminist, and a scholar of religion. Each of these roles carries its own lens, but together they sharpen into a single, unflinching gaze:

The Folklorist seeks the stories people tell — not just fairy tales, but whispered rumors, rituals, and resistance songs. Folklore is the cultural archive of ordinary lives, and it reveals how communities imagine themselves, enforce norms, and break them.

The Feminist asks who benefits from those stories — whose voices are amplified, whose are erased, and how gendered power structures are sustained through narrative. Feminist critique exposes the scaffolding of silence and insists on making space for marginalized perspectives.

The Scholar of Religion recognizes that belief and ritual are never neutral — they are mechanisms of power, identity, and belonging. Studying religion is not about piety or doctrine, but about understanding how sacred texts, practices, and myths shape lived realities.

At the hearth, these roles burn together. Folklore traces the stories, feminism questions their power, and religious studies uncovers their authority. What emerges is a methodology that is both critical and creative — one that not only studies culture, but dares to imagine how culture might be transformed.
