The Question Beneath the Stories
What we inherit is never neutral.
Stories teach us what a culture considers possible. They tell us who may speak, who must obey, what counts as virtue, and whose suffering is allowed to disappear into the plot.
I study folklore, traditional narrative, and vernacular belief through questions of gender, power, and authority—examining both what we inherit from tradition and what happens when we refuse to inherit it quietly.
